Arirang Perth

We were on the last day of our trip and the group was craving for hot Asian food while we were shopping in the city centre for souvenirs. The choices were quite substantial with Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Indian.

We were attracted to this Korean restaurant right by the main shopping street with bright and attractive lunch sets which were pretty affordable by Perth’s standards. Other than paying for overpriced Chinese food which we could cook back home, we went for Arirang with a menu that matches the price back home

The setup of the restaurant was simple with 10 tables on the first floor and other on the 2nd floor. The service was very prompt and the staff attended to us the moment we entered showing us to a big table for our group of 5.

The fried honey chicken with rice came in a generous portion with very fragrant rice and crispy and sweet chicken chunks. The meal was very filling for 1 person at the lunch set cost of approximately SGD 10

The bibimbap set came with 4 different set dishes, a bowl of clear soup and the mixed rice on a hot stone pot. This was very comforting during a rainy winter day and the seniors loved it. I didn’t manage to take a picture of the rice before it got mixed but it had 4 different kinds of sliced vegetables, mushrooms as well as a sunny side egg. The ingredients were very fresh and there was a side dish of sauce provided for you to mix the rice to suit your tastebuds. The serving was so huge that 2 seniors could share the portion.

Lastly, the kimchi soup that I ordered came in a traditional clay pot which was heated up to keep the soup bubbling hot. Like the bibimbap set, there were 4 side dishes provided. The soup came with lots of kimchi and tuna fish as the version I ordered had the fish. The taste was pretty authentic and the soup tasted perfect for a cold day.

Overall, the food served here is all quite authentic in taste and the servings are all very generous with a reasonable price tag. The service staff are all quite attentive and accommodating to our requests. This is definitely a refreshing meal compared to the other choices available.
