Japanese food is one of the all time favourites of Singaporeans. Throw that into an all you can eat buffet and you see horde of people visiting with their family and friends
Shin Minori is one of the top names coming up when you do a google search for best Japanese buffet.
The restaurant offers an ala carte buffet lunch or dinner where you can order unlimited times from a fixed menu.
Shin Minori has 2 outlets and the one I visited is at UE Square mall. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor and is quite spacious but dimly lit.
Every table has an attached ipad where you can order from over 150 items from sashimi, sushi, teppanyaki, fried items, grilled as well as many more.
Drinks are not included in the buffet price and can be ordered separately. The tea and plain water is refillable
The sashimi is very fresh and served in thick slabs. The squid and yellowtail is extremely sweet and having multiple orders of this totally satisfied my sashimi cravings
They have a few soup option, miso soup with clams, miso soup with pork and creamy miso soup. The soup is quite general
The chawan munshi is quite smooth and lightly flavoured. There is a gingko nut and some chicken pieces in each cup. The single serving is quite small.
The tempura mini crab is quite nicely fried with every parts of the mini crab so crispy the shells can be eaten.
The prawns are nicely battered and freshly fried upon order.
They have a wide variety of sushi and makis which has very nice toppings and ingredients
The habiki special is extemely nice with mentai mayo on the top
The agedashi tofu was hot and freshly fried with a thin crispy skin and smooth soft inside
The stir fried from the teppanyaki menu was quite mediocre.
The grill menu has very interesting items like grilled quail eggs where the skin of the eggs are bbqed till crispy. The lady fingers and gingko nuts were also some of the items worth ordering from the grill menu
The fried cream cheese croquette was fabulous and taste totally great. This is anew item on the menu and is a must order.
Overall, the food served are of very good quality especially the sashimi. The taste of the food is also good although I did hope there is more special varieties. While there is alot of food to order from, the menu is very general only.
