Hotel lobby lounges is one of my top selection to hang out with friends till late at night. Usually quiet, air conditioned and comfortable, hotel lounges are opened till late at night so it is the best choice when most restaurants and cafes are closed
There are a couple of new business hotels in the Tanjung Pagar area catering mostly to corporate customers on business trips since it is the main business district. The one that stood out is the Sofitel at Tanjung Pagar center.
The Sofitel at Tanjung Pagar eludes a clean modern classy look. The only lounge is the 1864 wine and cocktail bar at level 5.
The 1864 looks like a very typical wine bar with dim lights, lighted wine chillers and posh armchairs. The only different is there is an added retro chic feel to the place.
Both the drinks and food menu came in a pure leather bounded book emphasising that retro posh concept.
Each table is served a cascading layered container of peanuts and snacks complementary to drinks. There is a wide range on their alcoholic menu. For non alcoholic drinks, you have juices, coffee and tea, mocktails and smoothies.
They have 3 types of smoothies ( totally forgot to take pictures) but only the mango one tasted good. They served their drinks with reuseable bamboo straws to contribute to lessen use of plastics.
The tea was served in pots with refillable hot water. The menu for tea was quite substantial.
We had the truffle wedges which were well fried with good truffle taste.
Overall, 1864 bar is a good place to chill with a wide range of drinks for both alcoholic andnon alcoholic. The bar is not very big so can be crowded. The service is top notch so you feel relax throughout your visit.
