White Restaurant @ Suntec City

I walked past the white restaurant a few times when they opened an outlet in Vivocity. In fact, I ordered delivery from them once just to try their famous white bee hoon, and it did not disappoint, so when my friend suggested going there for dinner, I didn’t mind at all, as I wanted to try the other dishes

We visited the outlet at Suntec basement, and it is near the foodcourt area

The space is not huge, but it can house close to 70 people. The decor is simple with booth seating and movable seating to accommodate the group size of customers

This dish caught my eye since I am half Hakka, and it is one of my favourite Hakka dishes. The crispy nanru pork belly was a very generous serving at only SGD 16.80. The pork was extremely crispy when served and still hot, so it was extremely juicy and tender with a good tinge of nan ru flavour

Next, we were served the golden silky tofu with dried scallops and mushrooms, served with some broccoli on the side. The tofu was fried til very crispy and drizzled with a braised sauce of mushrooms and scallops. The braised sauce was savoury and packed with umami flavours from the scallops, which complemented the nutty beancurd with a crispy skin

My friends like Hei Zhou, so they ordered the hand-rolled, seafood and meat roll. I am not really a fan of hei zhou, so I only ate 1 piece, and the flavours were decent with a crispy skin. I was also used to dipping my hei zhou in sweet flour sauce, so pairing it with the tangy chilli sauce wasn’t really something which impressed me

We had the shrimp vermicelli claypot with a spicy braised gravy served on a heated claypot. As the sauce heated up in the claypot, the vermicelli absorbed most of the flavours, giving it a chewy and moist texture. As you chew on the noodles, the umami flavours from the prawn, which has seeped in, start bursting in your mouth, giving it a flavour explosion. The prawn itself was huge and juicy, adding a springy bite to the dish

For vegetables, we had the stir-fried green dragon vegetable with shimeiji mushrooms topped with fried shallots. A simple dish, but nicely executed as the vegetables still retained a bit of a crunch without the grassy flavours. The seasoning was well-balanced, and the light garlic flavour also complemented the mushrooms and the vegetables perfectly

Last but not least was the main dish, the original white bee hoon, which came served in a porcelain heated pot. The bee hoon came with quite a bit of gravy, which allowed the bee hoon to soak up the flavours. The bee hoon was moist and flavourful from the gravy and was easy on the stomach as it was not greasy like other fried noodles dishes. The seafood was also huge in size and generous in portion

Overall, all the dishes did not disappoint, and the portions were also reasonable, with a price range of SGD 11 to SGD 16 each. The dishes were well-flavoured and on point, with generous servings to feed big groups. The service was also fast and efficient, and we did not have to wait too long for the dishes to be served. A great place for family dining out days or casual dinner gatherings
