In my other posts about Shanghai food, I did mention my favourite brand of pan fried buns is Yang’s Dumplings so when I saw news that it will be opening an outlet in Singapore, I went down to try them almost immediately

Located at the basement of Bugis Junction, Yang’s Dumpling occupies the space next to the popular Korean restaurant. There was already a queue when I arrive around noon and the restaurant was packed

The restaurant set up was simple with all the space maximised for more seating and at any 1 time, the restaurant can house more than 30 people. They have a nice neon sign decoration on the wall to indicate the cities Yang’s Dumpling has an outlet and Singapore is the latest outlet to join the family
While there was a queue, it moves quite fast as the whole operation was very smooth, from seating the customers, to taking their orders and payment via the QR codes. The staff serves the food within 5 minutes of placing the orders and clearing of tables also happens within 5 minutes of the customer leaving. There are 3 types of pan fried buns; the pork, prawn and crab roe with pork. We ordered both the pork and crab roe with pork buns and they were as good as the ones I had in Shanghai. The buns were warm and crispy at the bottom with chewy and tender tops bursting with sauce and meat juices from the filling. They are definately still the best pan fried buns I had in my life

For noodles, they have the spicy radish duck vermicelli soup, spicy eggplant and minced Pork noodle and spring onion noodle. We ordered the spring onion noodle which was topped with some dried shrimp and fried spring onions which packed the noodles with a flavourful punch. The noodles were bouncy and chewy which the spring onion oil gave it a nice peppery flavour

There are other dishes like blanched vegetables, wonton soup and fishball soup but I only order the main buns. It was also nice to find this Hong Kong version of lemon tea here in the restaurant
Overall, the buns did not disappoint and tasted just the way I had them in Shanghai which was crispy and juicy at the same time. This is definately my go to pan fried bun restaurant
