Olio Dome is not new to the cafe scene; in fact it is one of the first few coffee joints that started Singapore on the cafe culture. I have always loved their iced mocha coffee and desserts as well as their relaxing atmosphere in almost all of their outlets.
Typical of the Dome character, the outlet at Bangsar Mall has the same brown, warm atmosphere with the marble and garden chairs layout.
Catering to customers who prefer getting under the sun a whiff of natural air, there is also a small outdoor al fresco area just next to the taxi stand.
Olio Dome will definitely wow you with their list of beverages from the usual hot coffee and tea to various concoction of blended smoothies or iced teas with a pretty affordable price tag.
They also offer a list of sinful delectable cakes and desserts and special high tea sets just for customers during the afternoon period.
Coffee is never disappointing at Olio Dome by getting the coffee basic right. There isn’t much of a frill but this is enough to satisfy any coffee addict.
The blended berry smoothie was thick and iced perfect for the warm weather with the slight sweetness that is very natural.
The mango smoothie itself was a good balance between sweet and tangy sour which is very refreshing for afternoon. The smoothie drinks can be slightly filling as there is a good mix of yogurt in the drinks.
The scones were served warm with cream and rasberry jam. With a buttery texture, the scones were quite crumbly and very slightly dry. When paired with the cream and jam, the dryness is hardly visible.
Overall, Olio Dome is a safe house when it comes to cafes to chill or take a short break. It might not have any fancy decorations, fixtures or food, it gets the basic right. For those who just need that coffee break or sweet break will find comfort in their down to earth and non fancy offerings. Only thing to note is that the service can be pretty slow.
