There are many Novotel hotels in Hong Kong and the Novotel Century is located in the Wan Chai area and is accessible to many food and shopping areas by foot. The nearest MTR station is about 5 – 10 mins walk away while the nearest convenience store 7-11 is just a stone throw away from the lobby. Causeway bay is just a 5 mins drive away by taxi and should not cost more than 25 HKD.
The hotel has a spacious and gorgeous lobby with brightly lit and high ceilings and minimalistic furniture in the centre of the lobby for patrons to sit and relax or wait for their turn.
There is also a grand stairways leading up to the 2nd floor where the restaurant and bar is located. Even though the hotel is located amongst the busy streets of Wan Chai, the lobby still up hold the 4 star class with their modern and simple décor.
There is a convenient key drop box located just next to the elevators.
The corridors are also very brightly lit and very well maintained. Each floor has at least 20-30 rooms.
The size of the room is quite average with a vanity table for customers to either work or place their items. The twin bed is the single sized bed with divan set and it is more on the soft kind of mattress which is not my preference. The pillow is also very flat and I had to pile on 2 pillows for the desired height.
Each rooms comes with a humidifier, luggage stand, mini bar fridge, safe as well as all coffee and tea making amenities. There was no view from my room at all so we kept the curtains drawn all the time.
The size of the bathroom is standard for Hong Kong but might be on the small size for bigger customers. There is only 1 shower head which is within the bath tub area so you have to stand and bath in the bath tub even if you do not intend to do a soak. The bathroom is generally clean although you can tell there is age to the furnishings. It is also pretty hard to control the temperature of the shower as you can only turn left or right for hot and cold water. Basic bathroom amenities were provided.
Generally, Novotel Century is a good hotel to stay in up keeping their 4 star Novotel standards. Rooms were cleaned promptly and sheets were changed with fresh towels provided. My only gripe is that the surrounding areas close too early and there is hardly any restaurants or cafés open for supper at night.
