Sundays are the best days to take it slow and let the day pass you by while you enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and people watch. Today is the last Sunday of 2018 and a good time to spend some time alone and make plans for 2019. Old Town White Coffee has many outlets all across Singapore serving local delights like kaya toasts, as well as Malaysian delights like Penang laksa and prawn noodles.
The outlet at Kallang Wave mall is pretty big with many tables and the entire café is dressed up like an old and new fusion coffee house. The café is not too crowded during weekdays and Sunday afternoons.
Some of the simpler snacks suitable for idling the time away includes this potato curry which is suitable for dipping of your toast. The curry has sufficient curry flavour but is on the oily side while the potatoes are slightly too hard.
The garlic toast was well made with generous amounts of garlic and butter and well toasted till crispy.
The basic half boiled eggs did not disappoint.
One of the more popular drink includes the ice milk tea which has strong tea flavours and very milky consistency. The drink tend to be on the sweet side.
On a side note, I will also introduce some of my favourite dishes from Old Town White Coffee if I am there for full meals. The Penang prawn noodle, Assam laksa and the Chicken rendang nasi lemak are the dishes I will usually order. The prawn noodle has a light yet flavourful broth with very smooth and thin rice noodles. The Assam laksa packs a spicy punch with huge chunks of tuna fish toppings and a sour tinge after taste from the pineapples and Assam. Lastly, the nasi lemak looks very normal but the chicken rendang is coated with thick gravy and the gravy has a good and creamy curry consistency with fantastic flavours. So for those who are there for full meals, you can try these dishes.
