Once in a while, there is always the odd craving for good spicy Thai food. There are many restaurants serving Thai food but not many are up to standards. Thai Accent resides in a quiet corner in Vivocity and is usually left out amongst the other bustling restaurants
The restaurant is pretty dim inside with a certain air of mystery.
The deco is mainly wood and black partition and grey flooring. The entire restaurant is lit by yellow warm down lights and side lamps
The menu is quite extensively with hot favourites like pineapple fried rice, tom yam soup, crab cakes and pad thai.
We had the coconut milk spicy soup which has chunks of white coconut meat, seafood and mushrooms. The soup is very fragrant and milky with a taste mixed between a light tom yam and milky seafood soup. This soup was very refreshing and the portion was just nice for one.
The tom yam was quite on point with enough sour taste and a spicy kick. You could also choose between a clear base or milky base.
The crab cakes were perfectly fried with nice juicy insides. The crab cake was savoury and has a good spring to the meat
The fish steamed in lime and chilli came to the table pipping hot with a warmer placed beneath the plate. The gravy was extremely appetising with a nice tinge of sourness but still lacking in taste compared to the ones in Bangkok . The fish was fresh as the meat was not too soft and still had a good texture.
The pineapple fried rice was just very general with quite bland flavours.
Overall, I wouldn’t say the food here is fantastic and the price is not exactly very cheap but when you need to have dinner and do not feel like queuing, you can check out the restaurant for passable food.
