Cordis Hotel Mongkok

Hong Kong like Singapore is a modern cosmopolitan city where you are spoilt for choice in terms of accommodation during your vacation. Personally, I love staying at the Cordis Hotel which is connected to the Langham Place Shopping mall which is right above Mongkok MTR. Just a few blocks away from streets like Woman street and Temple street that oozes strong local flavours, Cordis is right in the centre of all the action.

You can reach Cordis from the airport using the airport express and with the MTR station just below the hotel, you can go to anyway in Hong Kong island or Tsim Sha Tsui right from the doorstep of your hotel. As a 5 star establishment, the service is immaculate and the check in lobby is very grand with marble and copper statues. There are sufficient counters to deal with heavy inflow of occupants so the wait for check in is rather short. The service staff is always ready to have a quick chat or provide you with information for your stay in Hong Kong.

The hotel restaurant serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner and is extremely popular amongst the locals during Christmas festive seasons. I did not get to try the food at the restaurant as I booked rooms without breakfast since Hong Kong is full of breakfast choices.

One of the rooms they have is the family room which houses 2 connected rooms with 1 bathroom. One of the room is a twin room and the other a king sized bed. This is perfect for family with kids or even group of friends like us.

Each room is as spacious as the usual deluxe rooms with an arm-chair and tables at the side for snacks. The pillows and beds are of very high quality and provide the right amount of support for the back. I personally love firmer beds, so this is perfect for me. The view of the room is great where you can see the traditional low-rise housing of Hong Kong. One of the best thing about Cordis is the room clean up service. They will leave a card on your table for you to know the name of your service staff and you can leave any notes in writing where you need her to take note of during the room cleaning. The staff will also help you neaten any cables you leave lying around with their own Cordis branded cable ties. This is the first time I have experienced this and I think it is a great value add.

The room with the twin beds are with super single beds which is bigger than the usual singe beds. The rooms are huge and there is more than enough floor space to house all your shopping wins during your time in Hong Kong. The only down side of this room is where the sharing of 1 bathroom amongst 4 adults can be a hassle.

The bathroom is quite standard in size with any business hotel. The picture looks bigger due to the mirror. The entire bathroom is decked in clean marble and glass furnishings and amenities provided were enough for the duration of our stay.

From the start of my post, I have said this is my favourite hotel because of the location and of course the entire experience from the perfect service. At the road level of the hotel lobby, you can find many eateries and restaurants just 5 mins by foot. If the mall is not enough, just cross the road for a few blocks and you will reach the sneaker street and multiple pharmacies to bring home more loot. When I am in Hong Kong, I will definitely stay here unless my budget does not allow.
