The Baristro Asian Style

Chiang Mai has evolved into one of Thailand’s most distinctive café destinations, attracting tons of tourists to the city. Its café culture blends northern Thailand’s rich coffee heritage with creative design, nature and a relaxed lifestyle. Cafes have become attractions in their own right, drawing tourists seeking unique experiences and Instagram-worthy moments; it is no wonder there are more than 2000 registered cafés in Chiangmai today

Opened in 2021, the café has become a popular attraction for local residents and international tourists alike for its Japanese-inspired architecture, serene gardens, and speciality coffee experience.

The Baristro is a Chiang Mai-born speciality coffee brand known for creating cafés with distinctive architectural identities, and the Asian Style branch was developed by renovating an existing single-storey house and transforming the surrounding green landscape into a contemporary Asian-inspired café

The interior design concept blends traditional Asian architectural influences with contemporary minimalism, drawing inspiration from Japan, Thailand, Korea and China. The use of timber, stone, glass and steel is combined with minimalist architectural design and a Japanese-inspired garden and outdoor seating, creating a tranquil environment

Since we came here right after lunch, we could only order a small dessert and a drink. I ordered the Sokuchozan Kyoto, which is ceremonial-grade matcha mixed with water instead of milk. The drink was priced at THB230. I like that the matcha had a very balanced flavour without being too bitter. The price was also very reasonable compared to the ones we have in Singapore

I also ordered the strawberry red bean daifuku for THB 80 per piece, which had a huge strawberry right in the centre, with just enough red bean wrapped around the fruit and a nice thin skin. I love a good daifuku, and this was considered a nice one for me

Overall, the environment was peaceful and comfortable for anyone to chill during the hot afternoons, and the cafe is spacious enough for each table to have its own privacy. We spent almost 4 hours catching up, and we were never rushed to leave the place
