Café De ZaZa

When you are around Fuxing area and looking for a quiet place to do some work, Café Zaza might be the perfect choice. Just across from the CityInn Hotel Plus, Café Zaza is very popular with the working crowd for lunch and casual work discussions.

From the outside, Café De Zaza looks like a quaint café you can find in European countries with a nice brick fence and potted plants. In reality, it is situated along an entire street full of restaurants.

The interior of the café itself is warm and cosy with a country style atmosphere. There is a mix of furniture from proper dining tables and chairs to lounging sofas and armchairs.

The main service counter near the entrance prepares the beverages as well as takes the orders. You can get the menu from the counter and make your order and payment at the counter before the food is served.

The menu has both breakfast items like sandwiches and pancakes as well as lunch and dinner items like pasta and pizza. They also have a small selection of local Chinese noodles. Other than the basic coffee and team they also have fruit tea served in the pot which is sometime you might not find in other cafes.

Most of the mains comes with a soup of the day which was tomato and egg soup. The soup itself is very light and resembles the Chinese tomato egg soup except that it is also lightly salted only so you can taste the natural taste of the tomato.

The pesto salmon pasta had very thick gravy and a scatter of salmon chunks with some broccoli and carrots. The taste of the pasta itself is on the softer side adjusted to suit the local taste buds. The pesto sauce itself is also pretty light compared to other pesto pasta I have tasted. The dish itself is generally ok but nothing too special.

What I really liked was the fresh fruit tea which came in a huge pot and chunks of fresh fruits floating in the tea. The tea was unsweetened and the fruits has fully infused in the tea as there was a strong tangy and natural sweet taste. The taste of the fruit when combined with the tea was extremely refreshing for a hot day. This is a drink I would highly recommend.

Overall, Café Zaza does not have amazing food to boast but they do have a nice cosy environment which is suitable for hanging out in the afternoon with their very good fruit teas.
