Aburi En

Aburi En is the newest F&B outlet in Vivocity serving rice bowls and ramen.

Aburi basically means flame seared and some of the signature dishes offered are flame seared pork and eel.

The outlet in Vivocity is fairly small with the space fully ultilised to cater to patrons in 2 to 4 seater booth seats.

The outlet practice an open concept kitchen where you can see the chef cooking your meat over the grill.

During peak meal times, your order is being taken at the counter before you are showed to your seat to minimise waiting time.

Their signature includes the aburi buta don as well as the gyu don. The price ranges from SGD 12 to 16 depending on the grade of meat being ordered.

I had the most popular buta don which is pork shoulder meat being grilled and flame seared before coating with a layer of sauce and topped with spring onions. The pork was very tender but the sauce was way too salty. It was quite impossible to eat it without rice

The ramen has a flavourful broth with 2 large pieces of char siew and onsen eggs. The noodles was very springy and the broth was light but flavourful.

They had side dishes like grilled unagi. The eel was quite well grilled and the tasted quite flavourful, however, in the world of unagi, I still feel Manman does it the best.

The fried chicken side order was general as a side dish.

Overall, if you are looking for a sort of Japanese fast food, this restaurant offers pretty decent meals at affordable prices.
