Singaporeans are always looking for a weekend escape and Bintan is a popular destination. Competition is high in Bintan with constant weekend stay promotions from every hotel targeting families and couples. Bintan is great for a relaxing beach getaway putting all the weekday troubles behind. Bintan is 45 mins to 1 hour away from Singapore by ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. The main terminal on the island is the Bandar Bentan Telani which serves all the resorts. There is also a terminal that serves the Bintan Lagoon Resort privately.
The private Bintan Lagoon Resort terminal is at the doorstep of the resort. Stepping off the terminal, you instantly feel like you are booked on your own private island. Firstly, only guests of the resort uses the ferry and this terminal so there is less crowd compared to the main terminal. Next, you alight from the ferry directly on the beach of the resort and is promptly picked up by the resort’s buggy and dropped off at the reception lobby. This is probably the nearest you can get to how the rich and famous feel with their private boat and private island. One important thing to note: the private terminal is closed during Jan to March/April due to the choppy waves so you can only use the public terminal if you are visiting during those months.
The lobby is huge and extremely spacious with various lounge sofas and recliners for guests to rest and relax. You can see the restaurant from the lobby level. They have 2 counters, one for check in and another one for check out to ensure that all their guest are attended to promptly. The moment you arrive at the reception lobby, their staff will greet you with cold drinks and handle your luggage while you complete your check in. At the same level, there is a separate café that serves snacks, coffee and desserts, a bar that serves pub grub and liquor, a convenience store for any last-minute needs as well as a retail outlet for any clothes and swimming wear. There is also a in house money changer within the resort.
At the end of the lobby, you will be greeted by this to die for view. There are multiple rattan lounge seats overlooking this gorgeous view. You can see the swimming pool and the sea from here.
The restaurant has plenty of space for all meal times and has a nice view of the pool and sea with their high glass panels. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is all buffet style with a wide variety of Indonesian delights. The service staff is very friendly and reacts promptly to your needs. However, during peak hours, they can be slightly under staffed. The food quality is not too bad.
The rooms are spacious and bright with great space for night gatherings. Each room has a balcony that either faces the garden or main pool. The bathroom is also big with a separate bathtub and shower area. There are some rooms that has not under gone renovation and can be a bit dated. The renovated rooms are much more modern and well-kept.
There is another restaurant on the beach and faces the beachfront. The Nelayan restaurant serves good seafood and western grill with a spectacular view of the South China Sea. Within the restaurant, there is also a lounge bar where you can sit outside al fresco style and chill with the sea breeze.
There is a separate activity building filled with all kinds of sporting and indoor activity to entertain your vacation. They have a gym, karaoke lounge, spa, kid’s club, amusement arcade, billiards, court games and batik painting. There is also a separate smaller pool perfect for smaller children within the activity building. The resort also offers in room massage, massage in the beach huts as well as the normal massage at the spa.
There are also separate open air areas for archery, air gun shooting and mini golf. Something to note is that there are plenty of mosquitoes at the archery and air gun shooting area so it is recommended to bring insect repellent.
With so much activities for the kids, the golf fanatics parents can enjoy their full-sized golf course with a stunning view of the sea.
Review conclusion: This is an all in one resort on Bintan island, it has all you need within the resort and there is no need to travel out of the resort at all. For a relaxing weekend getaway, this is one of the better resorts in Bintan.
