Café Q classified

With 3 outlets across the island, it is pretty impossible to walk past the Cafe Q Classified restaurants and not notice the gorgeous explosion of floral decorations

The outlet at Takashimaya has a pink floral theme, the one at Vivocity has a purple floral theme, and Parkway has a bright hue floral theme. The menus across the outlets are similar although some outlets have special menus

The first time I was attracted to the cafe was when I walked past the outlet in Vivocity where the pastel purple colours stood out to me and the cafe looked like a romantic magical garden which is the main inspiration behind the cafes as the owners believe the magic of flowers bring happiness, love and joy. I finally got to visit the Takashimaya outlet which was prettily dressed in pink. There were also rooms where huge pink flowers ornate the walls. Every spot of the cafe was a great photo spot

Similar to most cafes, their menu offers mostly Western dishes like pasta, pizza, all-day breakfast, burgers and sandwiches. What really stood out from their menu was the local fusion dishes incorporated in each category like the humpty dumpty which is soft-boiled eggs, croffles with kaya and butter in the breakfast section or the Lobsta dry laksa which is laksa braised crayfish with jumbo crabmeat and linguine pasta in the pasta section

As we visited the cafe as a rest stop after lunch, we did not have space to try their innovative main dishes so we ordered the crackling pork belly as a snack and some drinks. The pork belly came with nonya achar which is a pickled spicy vegetable salad and a peppery dipping sauce. The pork skin was not crispy enough and there were some pieces where it was tough and chewy to bite on the skin. The flavours of the meat itself were on the bland side and it was dry to eat but were fine when eaten with the peppery brown sauce

We ordered the iced chocolate but were greatly disappointed as the chocolate flavours were very light and it tasted more like chocolate-flavoured milk as the milk overpowered the chocolate flavours

Overall, the items we ordered were a disappointment and the service was also quite bad as we waited for 10 minutes before getting service and the cafe was not busy. We actually saw another table of customers leave as they did not manage to get the attention of the staff. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt that their main dishes could taste better by visiting their Vivocity outlet on another occasion
