Hotel Skypark Kingstown

Close to 10 years ago when I was in Seoul, I remember staying at Dong Dae Mun and really liked the area as it was alive with action even late at night. You can easily shop till late or grab a late-night snack at any time of the night

So when I was searching for hotels to stay in Seoul, I decided to search the same area I stayed in and found the Hotel Skypark Kingstown. A local business chain hotel, Hotel Skypark has many outlets across Korea; 4 in Myeongdong, 2 in Dongdaemun, 1 in Jeju and 1 in Daejeon. Skypark Kingstown is located within the same building as Hyundai City Outlets Dongdaemun and is very convenient to reach via the subway as it is in between 2 subway lines. You can reach the hotel via line 2 Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station Exit 13 /14 and 8 mins by foot or via line 4 Dongdaemun Station Exit 8 and 5 mins walk

The check-in lobby is located on the 14th floor of the building with a very spacious area for guests to wait for their turn. There is a ticket machine near the lift lobby so you can get a ticket before proceeding to the counters for your turn. The staff can speak English well and the check-in process is quite fast and fuss-free

Also located on the 14th floor is the self-service coin-operated laundry room, a 24-hour C U convenience store, a business desk for printing services, a spa and massage, a fitness centre, seminar and conference rooms, a restaurant and an outdoor courtyard which is set up like a race track. You can race around the track only from 11 am to 8 pm. At night, you can sit on the chairs provided for drinks bought at the convenience store and relax in the beautifully lighted courtyard

The corridors are very spacious for luggage of all sizes and are brightly lit at any time of the day. The timed air fresher is very fruity and sweet so coming back to the hotel after a long day is really nice and feels homely. There is also a communal kitchen available which is open from 6 am to 12 am. There is a small table for guests to eat as well as a stove and microwave for heating food. There are pots and pans and trash bags that you can use but no utensils so you will need to bring your own. There is also a water dispenser for both cold and hot water which helped me save quite a lot of money

I booked a triple room and am very pleased with the size of the room. From the entrance, there is a huge wardrobe with more than enough hangers for 3 guests. There were also slippers provided for guests to use. There is a safe deposit box at the bottom of the wardrobe for keeping items. Next to the wardrobe is a long working desk with 2 leather seats. The table is so spacious and long that we used it to put our cosmetics, food and snacks as well as use it as an eating area.

Next to the desk is a long TV console panel but as the TV was fixed to the wall, we use the panel as storage for our shopping. With our 28-inch luggage opened fully in front of the panel, there is still ample space to walk around in front of the beds. The bed is semi-hard and not too soft which is comfortable for me. However, I did find both pillow slightly too soft but was perfect for my 2 roommates. In terms of power sockets, only the beds at the 2 ends had power points for charging phones but there are more points at the desk area which can be used as well

For the bathrooms, the toilet is spilt from the main bathroom which comes with a bathtub and shower head with a full landscape mirror and hairdryer. The other room is where the toilet is located with a bidet and also a side-standing shower. As there are 3 of us, I really liked that we could shower at the same time when we come back to the hotel late. The only crunch time is when all of us need to use the toilet together but it is expected for a triple-sharing room

Overall, I really liked my stay at the Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun due to the spaciousness of the room, the polite and friendly service from the staff at the counter to the cleaning ladies, the convenience of the location from 2 subway lines and the indoor convenience store. I will highly recommend staying at this hotel
