Doughnut Shack

Who doesn’t love a sweet snack? On days where you need that little pick me up, a sweet dessert or doughnut will always hit the spot. When my group buy offered Doughnut Shack, I clicked the order button faster than I say ” Diet starts next week”

When my doughnuts were delivered, I was above the moon looking at these sweet darlings packed so nicely in these neat boxes. I loved how the boxes came with a nice little quote for a positive finish.

My first box had chocolate peanut butter doughnut, hojicha ganache bombolini, funfetti ganache bombolini, peanut butter bombolini, maple cinnamon bombolini

My 2nd box had the vanilla glazed doughnut, cinnamon sugar doughnut, milk chocolate dip doughnut, donutella bombolini, pistachio bombolini and the creme brulee bombolini.

Starting with the lightest in flavour, the vanilla glazed doughnut has a nice sugared top which is well balanced in terms of sweetness and goes well with the entire doughnut. The doughnut was fluffy but not oily or dry.

The next is the milk chocolate dip doughnut which really looks and tasted more like a dark milk chocolate doughnut. The chocolate coated the doughnut well with a rich and creamy texture

The peanut butter doughnut had a mixed chocolate and peanut butter topping which to me is the best of both worlds with that creamy nutty flavour paired with the bittersweet flavour of the dark chocolate. Something to note was that the pretzels used as toppings were quite soft as I kept them in the fridge and ate them the next day

My other favourite one was the peanut butter bombolini which was like a small package exploding with peanut butter and jam goodness.

All the bombolinis had very substantial fillings like the donatella bombolini pictured above which is almost like a bursting lava bun with chocolate creaminess.

Personally, I found the creme brulee a slight disappointment. While the exterior looks nice with a slight burnt caramel top, the creme inside the bombolini was not creamy enough and the flavour were a little flat.

The pistachio was on a lighter flavour compared to the rest with a light nutty taste and is suitable for those who prefer less sweet doughnuts

Overall, I feel that doughnut shack offers pretty decent doughnut selections with the main doughnut cooked well and fluffy without excessive oil. They are also generous with the fillings and glaze so you can eat the entire doughnut with enough flavour.
