Shangri La’s Eros Hotel

When searching for a hotel in India, I was pleasantly surprised to find that a night stay at the Shangri La’s Eros in Delhi was less than SGD200 so I immediately jumped on the chance for this extremely good deal. Shangri La is known for their hotels worldwide to provide an extremely comfortable and quality stay so I was glad to stay there for my first trip to India.

The hotel was located Connaught Place where many private residences and chain hotels are located. The ride from the hotel took about 40 mins and upon arrival, there were thorough checks on the vehicle for any bombs or offensive items. When we alighted from the taxi, the staff immediately came over to handle our luggage and we were directed over to the security for bag checks.

The lobby was huge and very grand with the lobby lounge at the far right and the check-in counter right at the centre of the hall. The staff at the check-in counter was efficient and welcoming at the same time. They made us feel at home with their warm and cheery disposition as well as asking us very relevant questions about our stay in India. They also offered assistance for our visit for any arrangement we needed.

The corridor of the rooms was bright and very well maintained with a dark wood theme and lush carpeting.

As we entered the room, we were greeted by this spacious and contemporary designed room.  The room is fully carpeted and you can tell it is carefully cleaned and maintained by the fluffy and luscious feel you get on your bare feet. The room is brightly lit with good soundproofing on the walls. The beds in the twin room was a super single size and are neither too soft or hard and provide good support for a good sleep. The pillows which are equally important provide sufficient neck support. There is an executive desk for working as well as a cushioned bench for relaxing or other people visiting you in the room.

The bathroom is visible from the bedroom through the full-length glass but you can get some privacy with the blinds within the bathroom if you are staying with friends. You can find basic amenities like a safe for valuables, bar fridge, coffee and tea making counter as well as a wardrobe with bathroom provided. Something to note is that they provided many bottles of complimentary water for drinking so you can use them to make coffee and tea and even brush your teeth.

The size of the bathroom is medium and the shower is located within the bathtub area so you have to step into the bathtub for a shower. The lights are warm but bright enough for makeup. Basic amenities in the bathroom includes a hairdryer, shampoo and bath gel, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste as well as shower caps and combs. A full set of bath, hand and face towel is also provided per guest. The water temperature is ok although the hot water can fluctuate slightly.

Overall, the stay at Shangri La did not disappoint and definitely lives up to their global standards. From the check-in to the check-out, the service provided was professional yet warm and inviting. The rooms were huge and one of the most comfortable one around. Most importantly, the rooms are kept clean and well maintained. We had the room at a steal of less than SGD 200 so this made our stay totally remarkable.
