Somebody Café Taipei

Taipei has no lack of new cafes sprouting out all over the city from different themed ones to just simple ones where the locals like to visit for meet ups or breakfast. I visited this cafe as my local friend brought me for breakfast while we catch up.

The cafe is located at the busy Ximending and is just a 5 mins walk from exit 6 of the Ximen station. The cafe is located at the 2nd floor of the building and can be reached from this flight of stairs.

The cafe itself is very simple looking with minimalist looking tables and chairs and some plants and painting to mimic a more relaxed environment.

The fare served here is also simple with items like waffles, big breakfast sets as well as pancake set meals.

My ice chocolate was very general and the usual cafe standards and not the usual thick chocolate consistency I would have liked.

My friend’s big breakfast which had toast baguette, boiled eggs, bacon, hash brown as well as a cup of fresh fruits.

I had the more interesting set which is the pineapple and bacon pancake with slices of boiled eggs and a salad and fruits on the side. The vegetables were crunchy and fresh but not 100% washed cleaned as I found some black spots. The pancake was light and went well with the pineapple and bacon as the sweetness of the pineapple reduced the saltiness of the bacon. The entire plate was very basic and nothing too extravagant as it strongly resembles a home cooked breakfast.

Overall, the cafe is very simple and has no special menu that entices customers to queue up for them. The food is not bad but just not special or extremely fantastic. The seating area is also pretty tight as I could hardly exit my seat when I had another guest seated right next to me at the next table. I was lucky that the table left before us. If you are just looking for a place to chill out or catch up in the busy Ximending area and do not mind basic food, you can try Somebody Cafe.
