Chiangmai is located at the northern part of Thailand and among the mountainous areas. Neighbour to Chiangrai, Chiangmai has a slightly cooler weather compared to Bangkok during the months of Jan – March and October to December. Both Chiangmai and Chiangrai has beautiful tea plantations and gardens with astounding views of the mountain landscapes. You can even view picturesque cherry blossoms during the months of March and April. Various reasons has made Chiangmai a popular tourist destination.
D2 Dusit Hotel is a 4 star hotel located right in the city centre of Chiangmai with over 100 rooms and full chain hotel facilities. The hotel is decorated in orange and clean beige color. With a parking lot in front of the hotel, there is ample space for parking of your vehicle or bus.
The lobby is spacious and welcoming with warm staff always offering their assistance. There is an open concept lobby bar with comfortable arm chairs and warm orange lighting. I feel that the check in can be faster although the staff is trying their best to help you in every way. There is only 1 lift serving the entire hotel so it can be pretty slow if you are waiting to take the lift.
The rooms are spacious and bright with window cushioned seats for you to relax for the day. There is also a small table for your working needs. The beds and pillows are slightly too soft for my preference. The room is carpeted in brown tones and amenities like slippers are provided. The closet space is huge and sufficient for a 1 week stay.
The bathroom is very clean and is of mid-sized with bright lights. The shower area is separated by a glass door and you can have privacy from the bedroom by lowering the blinds. There is sufficient bathroom amenities provided and the shower strength is good. However, the bathroom does not encourage a long shower as it is quite basic.
The breakfast area is quite huge with sufficient seating for guests. They have a big spread of American favourites like bacon, scramble eggs and toast. There are also some local favourites like rice with basil chicken, boat noodle soup and stir fry vegetables. The spread is generally good but the quality of the food is mediocre and unimpressive.
They have good gym facilities with new equipment. The gym oversees the city and is quite rarely used. This is a good space for guests who likes to workout.
The hotel is located in a great area and within 5 mins walk to the night bazaar. Rooms are available from THB 2,380.
If you like the comfort of a chain modern hotel but do not wish to splurge on the accommodation, this is a relatively good choice.
