Joining the hype on Anfu Road, I popped over to get brunch after refreshing in the hotel, and as I was extremely hungry and did not do prior research beforehand, I just popped into the nearest cafe my taxi dropped me off at, and it happened to be Sunflour
A popular European-style bakery and brunch spot, it is famous for its signature sunflower seed loaf and fresh pastries
There was a chiller counter at the front of the cafe, and many customers were surrounding it to get takeaways. Customers were also getting the items to be eaten within the cafe. Some of the items available included Italian-style seasoned salads and vegetables as well as fried croquettes
They had a long section dedicated to fresh bread and pastries, which were packed in individual packaging for customers to buy for takeaways
They also served hot dishes, which can be ordered at the counter together with other beverages. The cafe was packed with customers when I visited, and I could only find a seat right at the back when another customer left. The cafe went with a grunge cement and wood decoration throughout, giving a chill vibe
I ordered a toast with egg benedict served with smoked salmon, fries and sausages as well as an iced Americano. The eggs were done well, with the hollandaise sauce quite on point. The toast was buttery but soggy, and the smoked salmon was quite dry. The sausage and fries were generic and nothing too special. The coffee was also decent
Overall, the crowd was quite overwhelming, so it was not easy to find available seats. The food was generally ok, like most cafes, so my expectations were not set too high
