P.S Cafe Raffles City

PS.Cafe first opened their doors in 1999 as a cosy cafe hidden within Project shop clothing store at Paragon with subsequent outlets with bigger interiors and nicely decorated environments. In fact, PS Cafe can be seen as one of the pioneers of incorporating lush natural floral and fauna into the interiors of their outlets making them totally instagrammable. Their latest outlet at Raffles City doesn’t disappoint with their equally pretty outlet.

The outlet itself looks like a British colonial styled house with an extended greenhouse where you can see multiple walls of greens and potted plants used throughout the cafe to create that garden atmosphere.

The furniture used also resembles garden or outdoor furniture with that signature P.S Cafe chic black metal finishing touch.

Making sure that the cafe is not overly “naturalised” you can still see modern classy touches like this red chalkboard highlighting wines and desserts.

You can also find the similar P.S Cafe signature black, bronze and marble bar counter cum magazine racks which is in almost all their outlets.

The center of the cafe has this British retro cake stand that showcases the cakes available for the day.

It is not difficult to imagine yourself in a European cafe surrounded by their luscious park chilling with a tea break.

The menu here at the Raffles City outlet has less variety with a few interesting localised inclusions like the prawn noodles soup.

I ordered the spiced pumpkin soup which was thick and smooth but a tad too heavy on the spice. It is not overly spicy but the strong spice flavour overpowered the pumpkin and there was a moment, I felt that I was eating a light curry.

After the disappointment from the soup, I was totally skeptical when the crab creamy tomato pasta arrived on my table. For a start the color looked great and I like that the pasta was evenly coated with sauce yet the plate was dry. I was pleasantly surprised that the taste of the pasta was on point. The creaminess was just nice and not overly oily still bringing out that tangy tomato flavours. The crab meat in the pasta was just nice although I would have liked my pasta topped with it.

The drinks were pretty general although they were all served in very pretty presentation.

Overall, the experience at the new P.S Cafe is still quite good because the service is fabulous and the food is generally nice although there are some misses and most importantly, the atmosphere is great and where else to transport yourself to a garden cafe but minus the heat.
