鲜入唯煮 – Hongkong Charcoal hotpot

One of the best things in the world is to enjoy a meal of hot pot during Winter or the cold season, and whenever I am overseas during the wintertime, I will always crave hot pot. Conveniently, just a stone’s throw away from my hotel was this Hong Kong-style hot pot, which caught my eye the day I checked into the hotel

Operating since 2007, 鲜入唯煮 has 2 outlets in Beijing, one at Jinbao Street near Wangfujing and another at Taikooli. Famous for their golden fish maw chicken soup, fresh seafood, and meat, this is something closer to what we have in Singapore and very different from the Beijing meat pot

The restaurant has a cosy and modern atmosphere and wasn’t very crowded when we visited. The price point for the items in the menu is also not particularly low, but upon currency exchange, it was acceptable for Singaporean. I would put their costs almost similar to Imperial hotpot pricing

We chose the tomato soup base, and unlike the usual Haidilao version, they had a more home-made style with tomato chunks and corn, and the soup was thinner in consistency with a more sour note of flavour

We ordered some of our usual favourites, such as pork collar meat, pork jowl meat, luncheon meat and fish balls with roe. The ingredients are very fresh and beautifully plated like flowers and roses, and the servings were also exquisite, so it might not be enough for big eaters. There were no complaints about the ingredients since they were all natural and fresh tasting

We also ordered the fresh baby octopus, sliced duck blood, and freshly made prawn balls and fried beancurd skin rolls, which were also fresh and great tasting

Overall, the meal managed to satisfy my craving for hotpot during cold winter weather, giving me hot, delicious soup with extremely fresh ingredients. I was limited by my budget as I could not order many items, but I could see how, with a bigger budget, you can enjoy a meal here with more ingredient choices, especially the live seafood they have available in their tanks
