When I saw the feed of this restaurant, what attracted me was the pizza shown in the video. I have been craving a good Italian 4-cheese pizza with honey after the fantastic one I had at Baci Baci. Read my review here

Located at Clarke Quay, iL Clay Pizzeria or Il Clay Supper Club was dressed up like a traditional Italian pizza takeout
There are outdoor seats by the riverside, as with all the restaurants along Clarke Quay. The magic happens behind the oven doors. The front of the restaurant is like a traditional Italian trattoria, with a small tiled counter and takeaway pizza boxes as the decoy decorations. Once the server confirmed our reservation, they brought us through the eye-catching red door which mimics a pizza oven
The door opens up to a totally different atmosphere. Resembling a private drinking club, the restaurant’s layout is in a hexagon shape with the main drinks counter in the center. The whole space is dim with a reddish glow, which gives you a feel of the 1980s American posh wine bar

First up is the lobster ravioli, which is stuffed pasta filled with ricotta cheese and spinach, lobster meat, and seafood bisque sauce. The portion is just enough for 1 person, but we ordered different dishes for sharing. There were about 4 pieces of lobster meat, which was fresh and springy. The ravioli is al dente and cooked quite perfectly with a deep and creamy lobster bisque flavour

Next up, we had the cheese and honey pizza, which was served to us warm and the truffle honey in a separate container. The pizza dough was light, soft and fluffy and with the perfect chewiness while the cheese melted nicely to complement the soft dough. The truffle honey has a nice fragrance and light sweetness, which balances the saltiness of the cheese. I felt the serving of the honey was not sufficient, and I had to ask for additional honey. As truffle honey would cost a top-up, I asked for normal honey, which still paired well with the cheese pizza

We ordered light bites for our meal as well, and the first dish was the cured and roasted pork belly served with red cabbage, balsamic glaze and whole grain mustard. The skin is very crispy and crackled with each bite, but some parts of the skin were quite tough to bite. The meat was also served in big chunks so you finish 1 piece in a bite. There is a nice balance of fats and lean meat with the balsamic glaze, and the mustard helped to balance the greasiness of the pork belly

When I first tasted Arancini in Italy, I fell in love, so whenever I see this on a menu, I need to order it to relive the taste. The version here is stuffed with Fior Di Latte mozzarella and coated with breadcrumbs. Served with cream of tomato sauce balsamic glaze, sour cream and fire torch scallop. On top of being a very pretty dish to look at, the arancini was fried till crispy with a nice cheesy filling paired with the tangy tomato flavours. The scallops are fresh and sweet, adding a nice umami flavour to the rice ball

The dishes were all very sumptuous, so we ended up adding an additional dish: the grilled squid stuffed with saffron risotto and chorizo Peperonata sauce. I liked the chorizo peperonata sauce, which balanced out the heavy risotto. The squid was grilled nicely without turning rubbery and still giving a nice charred flavour. I wasn’t a fan of the saffron risotto as I felt that it did not enhance the dish
Last but not least, we finished off the meal with desserts, and it has to be a Tiramisu when it comes to an Italian restaurant. The coffee liquer was served in a small shot glass, which was poured into the cake at our table. Their version of tiramisu was more creamy with less of a biscuit bite. It was not one of the best, but it was also nothing special about it
Overall, I enjoyed my meal at the restaurant as the dishes were quite on point. It was quite dark for proper food pictures, but the atmosphere was great for gatherings and chilling with friends who do not mind the heftier price tag
