Ever since I tried the marinated raw crabs from Korea 5 years back, I have been trying to find the best replacement available in Singapore. I have since tried at least 3 different Korean restaurants and nothing comes close

It was one of those days when I was craving marinated raw crabs badly when the review post of JIN marinated crabs popped into my social media platform. The influencer trying the dish made it look so good that I decided to order it. The best part was there was a promotional bundle offer including raw crab, raw prawns and kimchi

The delivery took only a few days and was delivered to my house chilled in these recycled paper bags. Each item was nicely packed and sealed in these glass jars with their Korean brand labels

There were 2 crabs in the jar complete with a pair of pincers soaked in their marinating sauce of soy, chilli and garlic

There were more prawns per jar and there were approximately 10 pieces. Similar to the crabs, the prawns were marinated in soy sauce and chilli but an additional ingredient was sliced lemons

The kimchi we received were freshly seasoned kimchi so there was a nice crunch and sweetness to the cabbage. I like the kimchi very much as the natural flavours of the cabbage paired perfectly with the kimchi seasoning. Their kimchi is not too spicy and is perfect as a side dish for rice or ramen
The crabs were considered medium in meatiness but there was no roe. The sauce has permeated the meat perfectly as you can taste the infused soy flavour in the meat which is not to salty when paired with rice. I dare say compared to the 3 restaurants, this version by JIN is the best I had in Singapore in terms of texture and flavour
Surprisingly, the prawns were more delicious compared to the crabs and I feel the lemons did the trick here as there was a refreshing critusy flavour in the soy which added a depth to the flavour notes other than just saltiness and spicy. The prawns were quite large in size and extremely crunchy so you know fresh prawns were used for the marination. The only imperfection was that some prawns were not well marinated so they were very light in flavour
Overall, I definately reccomend trying the marinated prawns and crabs by JIN for those who has been curious about how the Korean marinated seafood taste but is unable to travel to Korea.
