There are so many choices of hotels in Chiangmai as hundreds and thousands of tourist and Thais flock to this city for their vacations every year. The Le Meridien Hotel is located at the heart of Chiangmai right at the doorstep of all the night bazaars, cafes and massage places.
With 383 rooms and 44 of them being suites, the hotel has the full suite of facilities and amenities a 5 star hotel has to offer. The moment you enter the hotel, you are greeted by the grand lobby with majestic pillars and glass chandeliers.
The lobby has ample seats for guests to wait for check in and is arranged with great private space between each group of seats. For guests staying in suite rooms, they even complete the check in process for you while you rest at the lobby seats.
Right next to the lobby sofa area is the lobby bar with modern cosmopolitan seating and décor. You can choose to sit within the bar area or even the sofa area to have your drinks. They serve a variety of wines, spirits, local beer and very interesting exclusive cocktails.
Further within the 1st level of the hotel is the general buffet restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are plenty of seats available and the spread for both breakfast and lunch is equally sumptuous. Breakfast has mainly American choices of bacon, beans, scrambled eggs with a bread station. There are also some live stations for eggs, noodles and soups. Lunch is mainly Thai dishes with 1 or 2 western choices like spaghetti and cream soup. The quality of food is quite general but quite forgettable.
There is an infinity pool, spa and gym at level 4. The pool offers a nice view of the Chiangmai city and offers good escape for the sheltering Chiangmai weather. There is also a poolside bar available for guests to order drinks to chill by the pool.
For guest who would like other food choices can choose to have dinner at their Italian restaurant located at the 2nd floor. The restaurant only serves dinner.
The rooms are very spacious and well cleaned with a view of the city. There is a long lounging bench right next to the window for guest to read or relax. There is also a working station for guest to work on their laptop. The beds are very comfortable and provides good support.
The bathroom is very bright and offers a bathtub and separate rain shower area. The bathroom fittings are all modern and well maintained. The amenities provided are of good quality as well.
Overall, the Le Meridien provides a good stay in Chiangmai with great service throughout our vacation, fantastic facilities, room furniture and fittings. The best part of it is the location where the night market, food street is just a stone throw away.
