Supply and Demand

An award-winning Italian restaurant, Supply and Demand serves hearty Italian cuisine inspired by the trattorias and pizzerias of Italy. With 3 outlets, the restaurant serves hand-opened Italian-inspired thin-crust pizzas, hearty calzones, hearty al dente pasta and creamy classic risotto

Located on the 2nd floor of Orchard Gateway, Supply and Demand occupies a casual, homey space with both indoor and outdoor seating

The outdoor seating is still air-conditioned as it is within the shopping mall, but with less privacy as it is visible to all shoppers walking past. The indoor seats have an eclectic design with a mix of furniture and draping plants

To start off, they have a very interesting drinks menu. We had the strawberry rose bandung, lychee mango fizz, tropical sunrise and Asahi beer. A mix of rose syrup, milk, strawberry puree and strawberry pearls, the drink was sweet and creamy and would be a hit for Bandung lovers. While both tropical sunrise and lychee mango fizz are refreshing and light, with mostly juices and fresh fruits

For starters, we got the okonomiyaki fries, which are topped with savoury nitsume sauce, Japanese mayo, bonito flakes, furikake and scallions, as well as the dirty cha chaan teng fries, which are fries baked with mozzarella cheese, topped with fried luncheon meat, a sunny egg, Japanese mayo, hot sriracha sauce, parsley, shaved parmesan, scallions and chicken floss. In addition, we got the calamari fritti served with pizzaiolo sauce. While sinful, the starters were absolutely tasty and addictive, as the fries were fried till golden brown and crispy, and the toppings were just savoury and paired perfectly with the crispy fries. The calamari was also tender and crunchy, which was perfect with the dipping sauce that had a nice spicy kick

We ordered a couple of their pasta dishes and pizzas for sharing: the seafood risotto, the chorizo and chickpea risotto, the chorizo e pancetta, and the margherita pizza. Different from other seafood risottos, this was a cream-based risotto with garlic and white wine and topped with many fresh seafood items. It was lighter than the usual tomato base, which allows the natural sweetness of the seafood to shine. The chickpea risotto has a unique, earthy flavour from the chickpea, which pairs well with the shaved cheese to give the risotto a creamy and nutty aftertaste. After tasting the risottos, the spaghetti and pizza were pretty normal to me in terms of flavour. While the flavours were on point and tasty, there were no surprises.

Overall, the starters overshadowed the mains here, and I would say that a lot more surprises from the innovative flavours of the dishes. The risottos were great, and the pasta was generally tasty. I love the great variety of drinks available for all kinds of choices for different customers, and the space is great for gatherings, where multiple dishes can be ordered for sharing
