I was attracted by an Instagram reel about this restaurant offering pretty good deals for their dim sum, and decided to head over for a meal

Located within the Novotel hotel on Kitchener Road, Fu Lin Men Grandeur has been in business offering authentic Cantonese cuisine since 1995. Established by Passion Group, the restaurant aims to bring Hong Kong Styled cuisine to Singapore. Doing their part for sustainability, the restaurants emphasise a shark fin-free menu and are known for high-quality seafood dim sum, and a standout crispy Peking duck
Located on the 3rd floor, the restaurant occupies quite a huge space within the hotel with a pretty lush atmosphere. The staff were friendly and fast to attend to us and bring us to our seats. I really liked the plate, which was set on our tables
For a start, we ordered some of the common dim sum dishes like siew mai, steamed pork ribs, steamed spicy chicken feet, har gow dumplings and lean meat with century egg congee. Overall, the dim sum was a small disappointment as some dishes like the pork ribs and chicken feet were on the bland side, while the siew mai and har gow were quite rough and not delicate in outlook and flavours
Since the restaurant is famous for Peking duck, we ordered 1 duck, which was served with both egg crepe and flour mantou buns. Served with the usual Peking duck condiments like cucumber, leek and sweet flour sauce, you can choose to wrap the crispy skin in either the crepe or the bun. Something different was that the crispy bean curd skin was served to be eaten with the crepe or bun, as well as the plum sauce, which was served with the duck meat. The Peking duck was done well with nice crispy skin, and with the added beancurd, there is an added crunch and crispiness. The duck meat with the plum sauce went well with the flour buns
The next few items are the special promotion dishes which change in the different months, like the sun-dried fish maw chicken soup at SGD 18 only. Each pot came with a huge piece of fish maw as well as dried scallops and chicken meat. The soup was thick and milky with a slight fishy taste due to the fish maw. It was not as savoury as I would have liked it and tasted more like a herbal soup to me
There was also the 5-head abalone served with broccoli at SGD 19, and baked lobster in creamy pumpkin sauce at SGD 28. These dishes were all on 50% discount for a limited period, and promotions change periodically. Both dishes were a lot better than the fish maw soup and were good value for money under the promotion price. The abalone was cooked perfectly, soft and tender, while the lobster flesh was sweet and springy
We finished our meal with desserts and got the mango pomelo and yam paste. Both desserts were pretty decent and were perfect in terms of sweetness level and the consistency
Overall, I think it is a nice place to have a family meal with some classics, which are done quite well. The staff is also very attentive and friendly. With ongoing promotions for their Peking ducks and some of their signatures, it is still worth a visit
