St. Giles Boulevard Hotel Kuala Lumpur

My go-to area whenever I am in Kuala Lumpur is always to book a hotel in the Bukit Bintang area, but due to a wedding we had to attend in the KL Sentral area, we decided to go for something nearer to the St Regis hotel, where the main wedding reception will be located

After rounds of research, I decided to book with St Giles Boulevard, which is right next to Mid Valley Mall and only 10 minutes car ride to St Regis, where we needed to attend the wedding dinner. The price was also very affordable

The lobby was spacious and brightly lit, with a lot of space and at least 4 counters for customers to proceed with their check-ins or check-outs.

I stayed twice at the St Gile’s Boulevard, and the rooms given to me were on the higher floors. They also gave me a free upgrade for one of the bookings, so I get a bigger area for my entire family and 2 old follks on wheelchair. The corridor and rooms are dated in design, yet well-maintained enough without any broken furniture. The bed is on the softer side but provides just enough support for me to get a proper night’s rest. The bathroom is of adequate size with a standing shower. I asked for a plastic shower chair for my mum, and they provided it readily during both my stays with them

The usual amenities are provided, and also basic coffee and tea-making amenities. Interesting, instead of providing bottled water daily, they provide clean flasks for water refill at the stations available on each floor. I love how environmentally friendly this is, and also the availability of water at any time of the day without waiting for a staff member to bring it to you. For people like me who drinks alot of water, I can get clean filtered water whenever I need it

Breakfast was available at the Wild Rice restaurant on the 9th floor from 6.30 am to 10.30 am daily. The restaurant seats about 20 to 30 people at any one time, with a section of the restaurant dedicated to the buffet offerings

There is quite a substantial variety at the breakfast buffet with live noodle stations, nasi lemak station, local curry and prata options, Chinese fried noodles and rice, congee and dim sum, fresh fruits, salads and cold cuts, International cuisine like chicken bacon and sausages, as well as a variety of juices

I tried a couple of the items, like the congee with toppings like salted egg, century egg, live noodles station and the make your own nasi lemak and prata with curry. The food is generally mediocre, with some items like the noodles and congee tasting very bland, and the nasi lemak tasting slightly better. For the room rate paid, I wouldn’t really complain about the breakfast since you do get quite a wide variety, but as a foodie, I would skip this and settle for breakfast elsewhere

One of the best parts of staying in St Gile’s Boulevard is the direct access to the Mid Valley Megamall on level 1 without the need for walking out into the sun. The access is open from the mall’s opening hours. With endless shopping and food options at both Mid Valley Megamall and Gardens Mall, it’s almost like there is no need to travel out to the center

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at St Gile’s Boulevard at Mid Valley due to the location and connections to the malls. It is ideal for families and people travelling with older people needing wheelchair access. The hotel is 10 minutes away from KL Sentral and about 15 minutes to Bukit Bintang ( No traffic). On top of endless food options and shopping, there are many massage, spa, hair salon and nail salons around the area to satisfy all your needs. With perfect service from the staff, it makes St Gile’s Boulevard one of the ideal spots to avoid the usual tourist spots at Bukit Bintang
