Grand Parcvue Hotel Residence Chengdu

I was a free loader for my Chengdu trip, and my travel mates made all the bookings for the trip, including the hotels we stayed in, and I have to say the hotels were great

Located about a 10-minute walk from Tian Fu Square and the bustling Chunxi Road, Grand ParcVue Hotel Residence Chengdu is around a 30-minute drive from Shuangliu International Airport. Walk to Jinjiang Hotel Underground Station (Line 1) in around 5 minutes

Under the Park Avenue Group of hotels, which was established in Singapore in 1997, the hotels under its umbrella have won various awards, like the World Luxury Hotel Award and Singapore Prestige Brand Award. Grand Parcvue Hotel Residence Chengdu is one of the three hotel sub-brands as part of their expansion into China

The hotel is attached to a shopping mall, so there is direct access from the mall. The main entrance is grand and luxurious, with many sitting areas in the lobby and high ceilings with hanging mood lights. The check-in process was fairly quick, with at least 3 counters in use, and the concierge even added us on WeChat to facilitate any theatre bookings or attraction ticket purchases

The hotel is well-maintained and everything feels very new and nice, from the lobby carpet to the life walls. We booked a 3-bedroom apartment, which comes with a huge and well-equipped living room and kitchen. There was a full-sized dining table, a full-sized refrigerator, a washer and a dryer. There were also small appliances like a water kettle, a rice cooker, an oven, as well as pots, pans and cutlery provided for those who wish to cook their meals

There were three bedrooms: the first, located nearer to the entrance, had twin beds, another had a queen bed, and the master room had a king-sized bed, accompanied by a walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom. The space for each room was a good size and allows for big luggage to be opened up fully. The beds were firm enough with support, and the pillows were soft but could be stacked for more support

There are also two bathrooms and one toilet, with the master bathroom featuring a bathtub and a dual sink. For 5 of us, there were enough toilets for use, but a wait for the shower. Water was hot enough for a hot shower, and amenities were replaced daily and promptly

Breakfast was provided and had quite a great variety, from International cuisine to local delights. The space is quite huge as well, but it can get crowded during popular times. The first station you will see is the fruit juices, fruits, yoghurt and cereal section

Further in the restaurant, there are different sections offering basics like bread and bakes, salad, hot food like bacon, and sausage, as well as local dishes like fried rice, congee and noodles. They also had 2 live stations for eggs and soup noodles

I tried different dishes throughout my stay there, and the quality of the food is quite good. I particularly liked the live stations as the food was cooked to my preference and the flavouring was balanced without being too oily or salty. The western dishes were also nice, providing a very filling breakfast. It was also nice that they provided take-away cups for us to bring coffee or milk to our friends who decided to skip breakfast

Overall, the hotel stay was fantastic and comfortable, with their location being one of the key highlights. The price per room is also very affordable, and the apartments were just perfect for us, who were travelling in a group, as the common areas allowed us to laze around after each outing
