FWF Hotpot is located in Fahrenheit88 Mall in Kuala Lumpur and offers authentic Chendu hotpot. With the name Feng Wang Fu, it loosely translates to Phoenix King Mansion led by Chef Feng who was the King’s Chef during the Qing dynasty. Feng used his cooking techniques he had acquired in the palace to innovate and improve what he tasted in the local market for hotpot. The result is what you can taste today at FWF hotpot

FWF has only 2 outlets and I went to the one at Fahrenheit88 Mall as it was walking distance to my hotel and it was opened till late for supper. The exterior of the restaurant was pretty impressive with some reminisce of palace decor; gold rooftop and red lanterns
Upon entry, we were greeted by 2 traditional Chinese wooden chairsm pillars craved with dragons and an actual dragon sculpture at the top of the ceiling. I am assuming the entrance was pretty impressive during its intial setup but now, there are signs of bad maintenance which makes it looks like a poor adaptation of a Chinese palace setup. The rest of the eating spaces were categorized into booths resembling garden pavillions while some bigger seating were in the open areas

There was a small sauce section where guest can help themselves to the different condiments like peanut sauce, sesame sauce, cut chilli, spring onions, parsley, garlic, fermented bean and more

As it was pretty late at night and both me and my friend didnt really felt like having mala soup so we went for Chinese Herbal Mushroom soup and royal rich prawn soup
Since it was supper, we order pretty light ingredients like tofu, radish, pig kidney, duck intestines, pork collar and duck’s blood. Most of the items are not available in Singapore due to the strict food import laws so whenever we have hotpot in other countries, we will definately order them. The ingredients are very fresh even at this late hour and the organs did not smell at all. The soup bases were light especially the mushroom one which has a deep flavour from the mushrooms but light enough for a comforting soup in the late hours. The royal prawn soup was slightly more oily with a strong prawn flavour which resembled the soup from prawn noodles
Overall, the food was good in terms of freshness and the price was not overly expensive. The service was also prompt even though it was late at night and most staff would be tired. The soup broth were good and I would try the authentic mala one next time since they have the non beef version
