Downtown Pub Bangalore

Just opposite our hotel was this Downtown Pub, which resembled an old school American diner and one day, after late meetings, we decided to just hop by to settle our dinner

The cushioned booth seating, featuring bright red and green PU backing, and lightbox menu signs, is representative of a 1980s American Diner. When we passed in the morning, it looked really vibrant and inviting. In the evening, I found the restaurant to be slightly too dark, with limited lighting. Most of the customers are at the section below where the pub is located, so the dining part is quite deserted

We ordered a few items for a quick meal, so firstly, we had the Margherita pizza, which has the standard tomato sauce, cheese and fresh basil. The dough was soft and chewy with a generous amount of tomato sauce and cheese. The flavours were balanced, and the pizza tasted decent for a pub restaurant

We also had the nachos topped with cheese, jalapenos, olives and salsa. The plate was messy yet addictive when paired with a mug of beer or soft drink. The corn tortilla chips were crispy and perfect for scooping up the toppings in the nachos

We had the tandoori broccoli and cauliflower, which consisted of cream cheese marinated cauliflower and chargrilled broccoli. The chargrilled broccoli was sprinkled with paripika and chopped parsley leaves. This was pretty nice, given the nice charred flavours combined with a tinge of local flavours, but not too spicy or heavy for foreigners who cannot take local fare. It is a great bar snack, other than the usual fries

Overall, the meal here was quite affordable at less than 1,000 rupees for the 3 dishes without drinks. The servings were huge enough for 3 people to share and sufficiently full for dinner. The service was friendly but a little bit on the slow side, which could be because more servers were serving the pub side of the restaurant
