I chanced upon this store during my bi-weekly Bugis visits and I was intrigued by the long queue so I decided to join the queue for lunch

As the newest rice concept from Keisuke, which is famous for its Japanese ramen, the store offers different rice bowls topped with creamy scrambled eggs. The base which is just egg and rice is priced at SGD 7.90 with your choice of small, regular or large servings. Next, you can choose the toppings and add- ons which come with separate prices

While queueing up and waiting for an available table, we were given the order chits where we could indicate our preference which is quite similar to their ramen outlets
The entire space is very small and tight which reminded me of food stalls in Japan. You can see the chefs in action while queuing due to the open kitchen concept. The table and chairs are also placed very near to one another so there is no space for large bags. You can place your bag just beneath the chairs where there is a ledge to hold your bags. They also provide seasoned beansprouts and other condiments for your meal

I ordered a regular bowl topped with grilled pork with seasoned onions plus an add-on of ham katsu. I was slightly disappointed with the ham katsu as the description was deep-fried thick ham but the ham was nowhere near thick. Other than that, the pork yakiniku was ok in flavour with an equal balance of meat and fat. The egg omelette was creamy and fluffy which gave the overall bowl good moisture as there was no other gravy provided

My nephew ordered the braised pork belly topping and there was only a single square of pork belly. The meat was well braised with the meat melting in your mouth upon each bite and the braised sauce complemented the creamy and fluffy egg very well for an intense flavourful spoon of meat with egg and rice

Each bowl came served with basic miso soup which had seaweed and beancurd strips. The soup was a good add-on to wash down the meal
Overall, I think the flavours of the bowls are nice and are a quick fix for any cravings of the Japanese rice bowl. The creamy egg is a differentiator which is not common in other Japanese rice bowls. I would have liked the toppings to be more generous in certain add-ons as I left with a certain ‘unsatisfied’ feeling in my stomach
