Lagrillia

Located in The Hyundai Seoul food court, Lagrillia serves modern Italian cuisine in popular Korean flavours. The newest and most popular shopping mall in Seoul, The Hyundai Seoul has plentiful to offer and when we were looking around the basement for food, we were attracted to their small foodcourt

The food court has a Paris Croissant bakery, a Lagrilla Italian food stall, and a StrEat Chinese/Korean food stall. The seating area is free seating where customers can find their own tables while waiting for their food to be ready. Everything is self-service at the food court so customers will have to get their food from the stalls when it is ready as well as return the empty plates to the return tray area

As our friends had eaten here before, we went for the highly recommended pasta dishes although they do have a wide variety of dishes from pasta and pizza to grilled meats. The food from other stalls looked very enticing as well but we could only stomach 1 dish for lunch

The first dish we ordered was the shrimp rose pasta which is a cream tomato-based pasta that is highly popular in Korea. The dish cost KRW17900 and was served on a pretty country-styled ceramic plate. The serving size was decent for 1 person with at least 4 pieces of mid-sized prawns. The pasta was topped with a strand of Arugula leaf as a decoration which I personally found quite out of place. The pasta was cooked al dente while the prawns were juicy and bouncy. The sauce was creamy with a tinge of tanginess from the tomato base. The dish was well balanced and very delicious but can get quite filling so the serving size was perfect and not overpowering

The next dish we ordered was the truffle cream mushroom risotto which is more pricey at KRW 19,900. I generally lowered my expectations for the meal as it was an Italian stall within a food court so I was pleasantly blown away by the standards of the dishes. The risotto was cooked perfectly with a nice creamy texture but the rice itself has a bit of al dente bite which is quite authentic for Italian risotto. The taste and fragrance of truffle were well infused throughout the dish both within the sauce and the rice. The mushroom and cheese shavings added an additional layer of texture of crunch to the meal which elevated the dish

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised by the flavours of the 2 pasta dishes offered with an acceptable price point. It is even better than some Italian restaurants in Singapore. I would drop by and try other dishes if I visit the mall again on my next Seoul trip
