Located at One North, I walk past this Italian restaurant almost daily during weekdays and we never stepped in once for a meal until we had an office occasion to celebrate for dinner

Ristorante Pietrasanta was started in a black-and-white house along Portsdown Road in 2008 to offer affordable Tuscan cuisine to friends. After amassing a loyal fan base of customers, the restaurant opened at One North

The restaurant takes the shape of a circular dome with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. All tables are placed along the curve of the windows while the center part is for the kitchen and bar. Tables are pretty limited indoors with a capacity of around 20 to 30 people but they do have an outdoor alfresco area which can sit more customers
The moment we sat down, we were served a shot glass of tomato extract juice which could be drank or used as a dip. The servers did not explain what the shot glass of tomato juice was used for so we just drank it. We were next served warm bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and I noted that they used the Giuseppe Giusti, known for its quality vinegar. The bread was fluffy, warm and decent in terms of flavours but nothing too extraordinary
We ordered a Burrata salad with parma ham and Burrata cheese. As we had a vegetarian guest, the servers offered to help us split up the cheese and the ham into different dishes. The ingredients are fresh and the portion was standard for a salad which could be too little for sharing but perfect for 1 person

The Margherita pizza was very full of cheesy goodness with a chewy and fluffy dough which was very authentic for Italian pizzas. Each slice of the pizza was generous in sauce and cheese and the flavours were well balanced

The black ink risotto was cooked al dente with bits of the rice a bit hard but it was acceptable for me as I am used to al dente pasta. The sauce was thick and a little bit on the salty side and could be quite overpowering if you were to eat the risotto by yourself. We were sharing the dish so the small portions of salt were acceptable. The bits of squid in the risotto were cooked well without being too rubbery

Our next pasta dish was the ravioli in tomato sauce with cheese fillings. The sauce was thick and chunky with good tangy flavours which coated the ravioli and paired with the fillings of the ravioli well. This was definitely a better pasta dish compared to the black ink risotto

Another starter dish we ordered was the Melanzane alla parmigiana which is baked eggplant with Parmigiano Reggiano, mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. The eggplant was soft and piled with strong cheese and tomato flavours

Last but not least, we had to order some meat so we got the Grilled Black Pork Secreto served with roasted potatoes and mesclun salad. The meat was grilled well with a slightly crusty surface but a tender and succulent inside. The herbs were strong and gave the meat a nice earthy flavour
Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Pietrasanta and most of the dishes tasted great with authentic Italian flavours. The price is a little steep when you look at the serving size and the environment which is more like a trattoria. The price range of starters is from SGD 15 to SGD 30, mains from SGD 25 to SGD 180. I will probably visit if we have another group gathering again
