Her Spa

For at least two years, I have wanted to fly to Taipei just to experience the ear cleaning service with live camera monitoring. I first came across the service on social media with at least 2 influencer videos popping up in my feed daily. As a fan of ear digging, I was intrigued and told myself I would make a booking the next time I was in Taipei

Therefore, when my sudden trip was confirmed, the first thing I did was to book an appointment with Her Spa via their website. The reservation required a LINE account for easy communication which was a lifesaver as I lost my way trying to find the shop. I navigated with Google but ended up spending 15 minutes walking in circles. I ended up calling the staff who directed me to level 2 via this entrance

The staff who was on the phone with me was already waiting for me at the lift lobby and she led me to the entrance to change my shoes into comfortable slippers before entering the space

The space was not very big and reminded me of those smaller beauty spa salons which are on an appointment basis only. There is 1 staff who will attend to you and explain to you the different services available. They also have a product showcase area which sells some of their beauty products used at the spa

I was served a cold towel to freshen up from the heat outside and also a light green tea to quench my thirst and get myself cool and calm down for the treatment

I was led into a smaller room once my therapist was ready and sat comfortably into a huge armchair which reclines nicely like a massage chair. I was also covered up as the air-conditioning was very cold. The therapist starts by showing the interior of your ears to you and how they will proceed with the cleaning. For hard-to-reach spaces, they will use a softening agent on the cotton buds to soften all the hardened ear wax before removing them from the canal using many different clean earbuds. The feeling was scary but comforting at the same time as they were careful and very delicate with the session

Throughout the session, the therapist shared with me the kind of ear wax I have as well as the shape of my ear canal as we watched the cleaning process together. I never felt pain at all as there was no hard object inserted during the whole session. They only used special cotton buds which will not leave remnants in the canal. I had a narrow and tiny canal which made the cleaning of my right heart more difficult and a tad more uncomfortable but I left with visibly cleaner ears

I ended the session with a scalp and head massage which was truly enjoyable as well since they spritzer minty foam onto your scalp which cools and calms your scalp and removes all extra oil and sebum

Overall, I enjoyed my session although the price was not very cheap and I felt weird in my ears for a couple of days due to the extensive probing in my right ear. It all got fine after a couple of days. I would visit them again if I was around the area but would remind them to use less softening solutions to lessen the discomfort I felt after the session
