We were looking for a suitable restaurant for a large group gathering and someone suggested Guo Fu Hotpot. I have never heard of this place and there is no feed about this restaurant on my social platforms as well
Located on the 2nd floor of Guoc Tower, the restaurant entrance is next to the lift lobby and can be missed easily. It is straightforward to park your car at level 2 and enter from the carpark entrance

The restaurant is quite huge and spacious with mostly square tables which can seat 4 people and the tables can be separated or joined together depending on the group sizes. The atmosphere is bright with a minimalist design which is very comfortable for customers to relax and enjoy their food
The restaurant serves set meals, al la carte buffet and al la carte orders. The classic buffet is priced at SGD 33.90 for lunch and SGD 36.90 for dinner ( before tax). Weekend dinners on Fri and Sat are priced higher at SGD 39.90 ( before tax). Prices for children are also available and can be checked via their website. All buffet prices exclude the soup base and beverages; the average price for a single soup base is SGD6.90 and SGD 9.90 for a twin soup base. They have a total of 15 soup bases for selection and most are made using chicken bones but you can always check with the staff before ordering for any allergies
You can order the meat, seafood, and cooked items like xiao long bao, fried pancakes and dumplings via the QR code. Other items like vegetables, beancurd, frozen fishballs, meatballs and eggs are all self-service from the counter. The items are quite fresh within the chiller and some items and further soaked in iced water to keep them chilled and fresh. The staff also refill the items regularly. There are 2 sauce stations for customers to get their condiments and the variety is also good with the usual chilli, vinegar, sesame sauce, mala sauce and hoisin sauce

I ordered the cordy soup which was made with chicken bones and cordyceps flowers giving the soup a nice golden hue. The pots here are all individual pots which is great for gatherings as each person can get their own soup base and cook their ingredients without restrictions of other people’s food preferences or restrictions. The soup base tasted clear and refreshing with a nice savoury flavour. I did not get overly thirsty after the meal so I think the use of msg is minimal if any was used
The size of each order is not big as it is meant for individual pots so you can combine multiple orders for a bigger serving for big groups. The ingredients are relatively fresh and acceptable in quality for a hot pot buffet and the staff were quick in clearing empty plates and dishes. The cooked xiao long bao was also quite delicious with thin skin and savoury soup bursting out. The other hot dishes like pan-fried pancakes and steamed dumplings were pretty general and are probably on the menu to help fill your stomach. We concentrated on ordering fresh meats and seafood which were really getting value for our money
Overall the experience dining at Guo Fu was great with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff and service. The food and ingredients served were also considered good in quality and the staff did not hesitate to serve more food upon order, unlike other a la carte buffets where orders take very long to be served. I like the fact there are multiple choices for soup broth and each pot is catered to individual preferences which is more hygienic and convenient for groups with different food restrictions and preference
