CHUM Vip Lounge – Beijing Daxing International Airport

It was my first time at Daxing Airport in Beijing, and we were there on a transit plane to Xining. With many hours to spare, we searched for a lounge to rest our feet and get some food

The Daxing airport was pretty hard to navigate, and with many escalators going to different parts of the airport, we gave up searching and went to the one nearest to our next gate and the least crowded one, which was the CHUM VIP lounge

Most of the lounges sit in open-concept spaces, so you don’t get a lot of privacy from the rest of the airport passengers across the level. Once we got into the lounge, we kind of regretted it as it was quite sparse. There was limited food coz they kept their food items past meal times, and the furnitures were also not too comfortable and well-maintained. We gathered that this is the reason why the lounge was quite empty

Some of the hot food available were mainly steamed buns, steamed sweet potatoes, corn and fried sausages. I assumed they served some breakfast items since most of the food was cleared by the time we got into the lounge. They also had hot congee and millet porridge. One of the better offerings was the live noodle station, which served Zhajiangmian (dry minced pork noodles), beef soup noodles, and soup noodles with vegetables. The broth was hot for the soup noodles I got, but it was a more bland version and not very tasty

The lounge itself is very spacious with booth seats and massage chairs at one end, with some dry snacks and drinks available for travellers. They also have some private rooms and shower facilities for travellers

Overall, this is one of the most mediocre lounges I have visited, as there was not much to it, and the whole open concept did not really offer privacy if you decide to take a nap on any of the chairs. The food was not great, aside from the selection and flavour, and this might be because we were late. We regretted not going to the China Eastern lounge just across the hall, as they looked a lot more cosy with better food selections
