JW Marriot Kuala Lumpur

I have walked past the JW Marriott in Kuala Lumpur a couple of times, but never got the chance to stay there to experience the room, so when I saw a promotion for their rooms, I quickly put in a booking

Located on the bustling stretch of road at Bukit Bintang, JW Marriott is just a stone’s throw away from Pavilion shopping mall, Fahrenheit mall and Lot 10 mall. Only 5 5-minute walk to the popular food street Jalan Alor and about 10-minute walk to the newest TRX mall

The lobby is huge and spacious, with many counters to help customers with check-in and check-out processes. The check-in process was smooth and pretty quick as we got our keys in less than 20 minutes. The lobby is also directly connected to the Starhill shopping mall

The first room we got was located on the executive floor and had a separate door for access before you could access the corridor to the guest rooms. I felt great with the additional safety, but it was quite a hassle for guests going in and out often

The first room we got was a windowless room, but it was extremely spacious to make up for the lack of windows. There was a huge lounging area with a full 3-seater sofa and coffee table. The bed was sturdy with firm support and 4 different pillows to choose from, and the lights were very bright to also make up for the lack of natural lighting

There is a huge cabinet area right at the entrance with a full set of coffee-making appliances and a small bar fridge. The bathroom is also very spacious, with a square bathtub and a separate shower area. There is also a makeup dressing corner with bright mirrors and a cushioned stool, which is not usual in hotel rooms

When my travel mate arrived, she was quite concerned about the lack of windows, so we asked for a change, and the staff was able to cater to our request pretty promptly. We were brought to another room by the staff, who offered to bring our belongings for us if we were not in the room. The room was much smaller, but the overall lighting and atmosphere changed due to the natural lighting from the windows. Everything was a lot more gentle on the senses

Breakfast was at the restaurant Shook! located in the basement of Starhill Mall and is connected through a walkway. The restaurant is huge and can sit hundreds of guests at once

The breakfast buffet offering is full of varieties from local delights, International dishes, Indian cuisine and Chinese delights. They also offered generic items like fresh fruits, yoghurt, milk and cereal, breads, toasts and pastries

They also had live cooking stations offering soup, noodles, and porridge, local delights like nasi lemak and roti prata, as well as eggs cooked to order

There were too many varieties, and I did not manage to taste every dish as I went for breakfast quite late. I had some of my usual items like sourdough toast with sunny side up, plain porridge with condiments and additional local delights like the roti prata with curry and some sauteed mushrooms. The quality of the food is good and flavourful, and the different choices are great for customers who want a change in breakfast selections daily. The service is also prompt, and the restaurant is spacious and comfortable for lounging

Overall, the stay at JW Marriott is great with comfortable rooms, impeccable service and enjoyable breakfast. With room rates on offer, I will definitely choose to stay here again
