La Maison. View Resort

I leeched onto my friend’s impromptu trip to Lijiang and Shangri La and it was probably one of the best decisions I made. Lijiang has always been on my mind together with Shangri La but I never put down time to plan a trip so when a fully planned trip was up for me to leech on, I hopped on the opportunity

Located at the edge of the Lijiang Ancient Town, La Maison.View Resort is fully accessible by car and a 1-minute walk to the Ancient Town. I was totally in awe when I alighted our car pickup from the airport. The hotel was housed in an ancient-styled building but fully renovated for a new and modern interior. The hotel booking came with either an airport pickup or drop-off which was a great service provided

The main hall of the hotel was split into several different parts. The foremost front area is the check-in lobby, with aesthetic seats for customers to sit and relax. The main design style of the hotel lobby is like a classy Chinese teahouse with wooden shelves stocked with expensive Chinese tea leaves as well as ancient Chinese calligraphy mounted on walls to complete the design. The lobby view is great as you can look out at the entire ancient town of Lijiang but as the height is not high enough, you get a view of mostly the tiled rooftops. On a lazy afternoon, it was still quite relaxing to sip tea and look at the buildings

The entire hotel was restructured from a cluster of old Chinese houses and rebuilt and restructured resembling an old Chinese mansion with internal courtyards and gardens. There were multiple spaces designed for customers to enjoy tea sessions in a peaceful and beautiful environment. Now, back to the check-in experience, where we were treated like absolute VIPs upon our arrival. From the time of reservation, a WeChat group was set up, especially for us to prepare for our arrival at their hotel. We were able to make queries about local tours with the hotel staff even before we arrived. While our check-in process was ongoing at the counter, we were served welcome tea and settled in by our personal concierge who showed us the map of the ancient town as well as the recommended walking routes and souvenirs, restaurants, food, tea to purchase to avoid being scammed. They even remembered some of our queries and checked if we needed them to help us with securing tickets and transport to the sightseeing spots which they did ultimately helped us complete everything without us having to worry at all

After the processes were completed, the staff helped us move the luggage to the room and they even gave us an upgrade to a bigger room. There was no lift so we had to climb 2 flights of stairs to get to our room which was on the top level of the building. I was in awe when the door was opened and the room was spacious and absolutely gorgeous. The decorations were tasteful, and modern yet full of cultural efforts. There were 2 huge queen beds in the room which was extremely comfortable in terms of the support of the mattress. The pillows were also great which accounted for 2 fabulous nights of sleep

Opposite the beds was a large area for guests to rest and enjoy a slow moment with the TV, a book or even a table of tea and snacks. Right at the entrance, there is a huge wardrobe for clothes and belongings and also a side cabinet for the fridge, coffee and tea-making items like a teapot and kettle. Everything provided in the fridge is free for us to utilise as well as the fruits which are provided. What really surprised me was they provided a Dyson air filter and humidifier as the air is quite dry

The entire bathroom area is also huge with a large area with dual basins and a dressing table which was equipped with a Dyson hairdryer as well. The actual toilet and bathroom shower are separated into 2 rooms to facilitate guests’ use. For guests who wish to soak in a bath, there is also a long bath placed next to the windows for guests to enjoy a hot soak which is good for more than a family of 4

Overall, I stayed at La Maison. View for 2 nights and they were one of the best I had stayed in China at least. The service was top-notch and even better than some 5-star Western Chain hotels globally. The staff were attentive and personal and very willing to share experiences and ideas with any guest who had time to sit down and enjoy traditional Chinese tea. The cleanliness of the hotel was top standards, I did not find any dirt or fault during my stay. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the furnishings and equipment were all new and good brands. This could also be because the hotel is new. Additional services like free tea time snacks, and a personal concierge as an add-on make the hotel awesome. I cannot stop recommending this hotel to more people but I do hope that they maintain the service level
