Pulse Ipoh- Chic@Majestic Condo ( 4 bedrooms)

After my last family trip to Ipoh, staying at Travelodge, I made sure that this time round, I stayed nearer to the city centre, where most of the food and shops are within walking distance. I remember being impressed with the WEIL hotel and wanted to book a room there but it was rather expensive which prompted me to search for an Air BnB instead

I found the Pulse Ipoh- Chic@Majestic Condo ( 4 bedrooms) via Agoda and booked it upon reading great reviews of the apartment. The location was also a stone’s throw from the main food street of Ipoh

Upon successful booking and acknowledgement from the owner, he will contact you via WhatsApp and send over the details of check-in as well as the handbook on house rules, the use of appliances, the WIFI code, and nearby food and attractions. Look for the security guard center which is next to the lift lobby and letterbox area where we got the key cards for the lift and the apartment

The lift is at the far end of the corridor and there are multiple units on both sides of the corridors and most are used as air BnBs

The living room is longish and exactly like the photos posted on Agoda. It has a two-seater sofa and a bench fitted with seating cushions to accommodate more guests. At the end of the space is a small dining table that seats up to four people. The host provided a laundry basket at the door for dirty towels and there is also a projector where you can connect to your own device to be projected on the wall. We used it for 2 nights and while it provided us with some entertainment, the resolution was not the best

To the right of the entrance is the small walking kitchen where a full-size fridge, microwave, water kettle, cooking ware, plates and bowls as well as utensils. There is also dishwashing liquid provided for people who like to bring food back for supper. To the left of the kitchen is the service yard where people would normally sun the clothes but we had no use for them during our stay

There are a total of 4 rooms; the first was the smallest and nearest to the kitchen where a small double bed is fitted into the room with only space for a small bedside table. There was no power outlet in this room at all. The 2nd room was one of the bigger rooms as it was sectioned out from part of the living room with a sliding partition. This room shares the balcony with the master bedroom and has a bigger queen-sized bed as well as a TV mounted on the wall. There was lots of space in this room but the aircon leaks water when switched on so we had to place a towel below to catch the water

The 3rd room is next to the shared bathroom with a smaller double bed, a hanger frame for clothes and 2 bedside tables. There is 1 power outlet here in the room which is at the wall where the door is and is quite far from the bed or tables. The last room is the main master which has an ensuite bathroom as well as a full set of windows which gives the room natural lighting. The room has a small double as well with a bedside table and a small plant to beautify the room. There is also a power outlet here which is far from the bed

The bigger bathroom is the ensuite with the master bedroom where there is no wet and dry separation. The entire bathroom floor will be wet after showering. The bathroom is generally clean but the walls are not in the best condition for both bathrooms. For the shared bathroom, there is a glass separator between the toilet and bathing area so the other part of the space is dry. The water heater is not too hot even when it is turned to the hottest temperature but luckily Ipoh is not too cold so the lukewarm water is acceptable

Overall, the location of the apartment was fantastic as it was a 3-minute walk away from the Beansprouts Chicken Street where you can also find the famous soya bean milk and many other popular eating spots and bakery to buy local delights. The apartment is well-maintained in most areas except the tiles in both bathrooms and the weird positions of the power outlets so it would be good if the host provided an extension plug for the guests for charging purposes. One main thing which got to me was the entire street of funeral homes which is 1 minute from the apartment and you will have to walk past the street before getting to the food street. The experience of walking past the funeral homes gave me bad vibes at night which rendered me sleepless. We walked past 4 ongoing funerals the duration we were staying there which was not exactly a great experience. Those who do not mind this, will find the apartment a great find at the booking rate
