When we first planned our trip to Khao Kho, we wanted to book one of those glass-walled rooms where you can feel floating in the middle of the cloud sea and get one of the best views of the sunrise and sunset

When we finally got down to researching and booking hotels for the trip, I realised that the season we were visiting was not the month when you could see the sea of clouds. The recommended time is the rainy season July to September. As such, there wasn’t really a point in booking a glass cabin room which is tagged at a much higher price point

I settled on Pino Latte, one of the hotels with scenic views of the mountains and fantastic reviews for their rooms. Located beyond the Wat Prathat Phasornkaew temple, Pino Latte is relatively high up the Petchabun mountain and thus gets a great view of the surrounding mountains as well as the temple from a distance
The check-in is located within the hotel building on the first floor and is fairly new as the hotel building is only open from 2020. The resort started operating in 2015 with only 5 deluxe villas and was pretty inadequate in terms of service offerings. With the addition of the hotel block, there is now a proper check-in counter space for your to look for any staff if you need help. There is a small beverage counter in the lobby for guests to drink water while waiting as well. The lift lobby and corridors are all well-lit and very new so it felt very welcoming when we were looking for our room

The room size was not huge so it is quite tight for big luggage. We travelled with 1 mid-sized luggage and 1 cabin size and we have to close our luggage after getting our stuff as we are not able to lay the luggage flat. Even though the room is small, it is pretty cosy with a small narrow desk and chair where guests can sit and eat or work. The desk is by the door so there will be limited walking space if 1 person is using the desk. There is a small fridge under the side table and a table which can be adjusted to face the beds. We booked a twin room but the 2 beds were placed next to each other on a platform area next to the window. The bed is a basic mattress which is hard enough for me although the pillow is very flat

Given the small size of the room, the bathroom is rather spacious with a separate shower area from the wash basin. I absolutely loved the shower as the pressure was very strong and the temperature very hot. They provide basic amenities like a hairdryer and soup as well as toothbrush and toothpaste

The toilet is separated from the bathroom and is in a small cubicle right next to the main door which is convenient for guests sharing a room so if the bathroom is occupied, the toilet can still be used. The downside to this is there is nowhere to wash your hands if the bathroom is occupied. The toilet cubicle is the size of those in the shopping mall toilets so the general guests should be able to fit in without issues
We got a room with windows facing the hotel’s cafe and restaurant across the street. The cafe is open to non-staying guests as well due to the perfect view of the mountains and the beautifully decorated gardens which are quite perfect for pictures. It was really a pity we did not get to see any sea of clouds
Breakfast was included in the room price and is quite a good spread. Located on the 2nd floor of the restaurant building, there is a selection of both hot and cold dishes. For hot dishes, they have Chinese dim sum and porridge, Thai pork porridge, fried rice and fried vegetables, sausages and egg stations. There is also a toast station and a make-your-own salad area. There is a small selection of juice, hot beverages and fresh fruits available as well
The taste is pretty general and the selection is very substantial since it is included in the room rates which were not too expensive. Breakfast ends by 10 am if I did not remember wrongly and starts pretty early
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel as the rooms were clean and pretty comfortable and I really loved chilling out at the cafe and restaurant. The only complaint was the restaurant closes very early so there is no food available if you need supper. You can read about that in my next post
The private villas were located further down from the restaurant and can be reached via a steep slope, we tried going there to take a look but the path was too dark at night so we gave up going there. I gathered from many reviews that while staying in the villas was very romantic and private, it was difficult to get help from the staff and you can only access the villas via foot, car or the buggy from the lobby. This makes it quite inconvenient to have breakfast or just walk around the compound so unless you wish to spend private time, I would rather go with the hotel rooms
